EBay and PayPal Accounts Creation For A Friend In UK

August 15th, 2010 by admin

A friend in Britain has emailed me asking how she could setup an eBay account to be able to sell items online. She is moving out the country to live permanently in Japan and would like to hold what was typically known a garage sale, only in her case she wants to do it online. I wrote her an email asking if she has any sort of online banking and if she has a paypal account. Her reply arrived in less than 20 minutes asking to have the paypal uk head office number so she could call and ask them how to go about it. I cannot help but smile as I typed my response, I directed her to paypal’s website and ask her to navigate around it and check out the FAQ’s section to get a better grasp of how things work. She called and asked about the post she read on some forum about paypal asking for credit card number. I informed her that paypal needs to be connected to her personal account so she could transfer funds to it and withdraw funds from it. The discussion turned to her asking why she needs paypal to begin with when all she wants is to sell her stuff online. I directed her to ebay.com.uk and asked her to read the FAQ’s there too. After all she needs a paypal account to link with her eBay account so buyers could pay her directly via paypal. She must have understood the whole thing as no email has arrived on my inbox. If she has already signed up on both EBay and paypal then she is on her way to selling her stuff online. That should make her move to Japan a whole lot easier.
