Each year Feb 14th is celebrated as a day for love, exchange of gifts, guarantees of perpetual enthusiasm, and more. The impressed pen poems provoked by their love and admiration for the girls of their dreams while others just go to shops and buy commonly available verses. Valentines means candy, chocolates, scent, red hearts, balloons, and more. Ever puzzled when the party first originated? Well in traditional Rome, Feb heralded the approaching to spring a time for rejuvenation, fertility, and expansion. In traditional times, Romans celebrated in Feb a holiday to laud the god of fertility who gave them children and guaranteed a god crop.In Rome Feb fifteenth was celebrated as the banquet of Lupercalla and February 14th as a vacation in respect of Juno the queen of Roman gods and goddesses. On the brink of Lupercalla a glass jar was filled to bursting point with chits on which were penned the names of all qualified girls. Then younger lads would draw a chit each from the jar and the girl whose name was on the chit would be his partner for the party. This was a technique by which traditional Romans introduced admissible lads and lasses to each other.Much later on in the third century BCE when Emperor Claudius II ruled Rome there lived a clergyman called Valentine. And when Claudius passed a decree that younger lads in his empire weren’t to wed, Valentine denied him and used to consecrate weddings anonymously. He was handed the death sentence and thrown into jail. While waiting for his execution Valentine penned a letter to his love and signed it from your Valentine. After his demise Valentine turned into a martyr and saint and was generally known as St Valentine. Excellent legends are woven around Valentine’s Day. In Wales youngsters exchanged as gifts wood spoons which were hand carved with decorations of hearts and key holes. The decorations conveyed you hold the key to my heart or you unlock my heart. In other places women were given gifts of attire and if they accepted the present then it conveyed that they were wiling to wed the person who has sent the present. In 1415, Charles, the Duke of Orleans is thought to have penned, from his jail in the tower of London, what were known as poetical randy addresses to his spouse in France, he is said to be one of the earliest creators of valentines. Just as firms like Hallmark sell cards for Valentines Day in the fifteenth century folk purchased tiny pamphlets with verse in them —they then made their own valentines using the verse to express their thoughts. For instance a valentine might have the hand drawn illustration of a knight and his woman with Cupid the god of love shooting arrows into the knight’s heart. In the States it was after 1723, that recognition of the party grew.Folk imported the pamphlets of verse all of the way from Britain and copied the verses on to gilt rimmed papers. Then a Ms. Ester Howard in around 1830 made a decision to be original and create American Valentines that were sold as Worcester Valentines. Since that time with changing centuries and tastes the party has taken on new colors with young ladies and men, youngsters alongside older couples making more modern methods to celebrate and declare their everlasting love.
