The Care and Feeding of Cats

January 3rd, 2011 by admin

There are over 500 different varieties of cats spread out among 40 to 80 different breeds. Characteristics vary a great deal between breeds. Cats either have long-hair or short-hair though there are some that are hairless. Cats having long hair will have to be groomed on a regular basis to avoid matting. If fur becomes matted, the cat will generally requiring clipping to avoid pain from attempting to untangle the fur. However, no matter what the breed they will require cat food and clean water.

Like all living animals, cats require food and water every day. The stage of life the cat is in will dictate how it should be fed. In the kitten stage, they will require more food in proportion to their weight than adult cats. It is important for there to be access to kittens food all the time. Unlike puppies, kittens will generally not overeat. Kittens can begin to eat adult cat food after about six months. Once a cat reaches seven years of age, they should be fed smaller more frequent meals. The vet may also suggest switching to a cat food especially formulated for older cats.

Cat food comes in two different varieties. It is either dry or wet. In its dry form, the food has between eight to ten percent moisture content is composed of grain and animal material. Wet cat food comes in cans or pouches and contains between 75 to 78 percent moisture. Studies have shown that there is little difference between the dry and wet food in respect to dental health of cats. More information can be found at httpwwwwhiskascommeal_timetrayswh_ki about food.

No matter what kind of cat an owner chooses they will need care and attention beyond the feeding of cat food and clean water for them to drink. They are intelligent and can be trained to behave appropriately. Cats are also very clean animals and this lends itself to them being able to easily litter box trained. Litter boxes should be kept clean and placed in a quiet area of the home. Cats should also receive regular care from a veterinarian that including keeping their vaccinations up-to-date.

Life After Filing Bankruptcy

October 10th, 2010 by admin

What will bankruptcy do to my credit rating ? is the most frequent question people filing bankruptcy ask.  I try to stifle my knee jerk reaction to ask if anyone who knew the truth about their financial situation would lend to them now, and now I say truthfully, I don’t know.

As the economy improves, I doubt that we will return soon to the way it was before:  credit given out indiscriminately almost irrespectively of  the borrower’s ability to repay.  Bankruptcy or not.

I think that going forward credit in general will be more limited and even based on an estimate of the borrower’s ability to repay.  I hope that borrowers will take on debt with the same thoughts in mind.

But even if credit is less available, I suspect that the principles I’ve been reciting will remain true.  People with little or no debt will be better candidates for credit than those who have lots of outstanding credit, even if they are current on that debt.

The other fundamental issue is that one’s financial health is not measured by how much money you can borrow.  It’s measured by your net worth, your available cash flow, and the stability of  your income.  The elephant in the room for most of my clients is that, whatever their age, they are under-prepared for retirement. Rather than thinking about what kind of “things’ they can acquire on credit, they need to be living beneath their means and saving for retirement. After a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing most people have virtually no debt at all.

Citizenship Through Parents

September 27th, 2010 by admin

An individual can become a U.S. citizen through parents. This is irrespective of the fact whether the individual is born within or outside the country. Birth in the American soil automatically turns him to an American citizen with all the rights and liberties. The citizenship through parents is, however, subject to the law that was in effect when the person was born if the place of birth is a country outside the U.S. jurisdiction.

Citizenship through parents can be through two instances:

Birth to parents who are U.S. citizens

Naturalization of parents

The person can be an American citizen if one of the parents is a U.S. citizen even if he was born in another country. With the laws differing depending on the date of birth of the individual, one has to evaluate them to identify his eligibility to become a U.S. citizen through parents.

Birth to U.S. Citizen Parents (“Acquisition”)

The presence of at least one parent who is an American citizen or grandparents who are U.S. citizens automatically makes him a U.S. citizen. This is irrespective of whether the candidate gets born in the U.S. or abroad. Similarly, the children of an individual who acquires U.S. Citizenship through birth to parents who are U.S. citizens also acquire the citizenship at birth. However, one needs to verify the laws applicable to different periods to identify his status based on the time of his birth.

Naturalization of Parents (“Derivation”)

The acquisition of the Citizenship by the parent results in the automatic generation of the same to the children provided they are in possession of the green card and are under eighteen years of age. The citizenship is conferred only if the child is staying with the parent at the time of naturalization. Like the citizenship by birth to U.S. citizen parents, this is also subject to the laws applicable during the time of the birth of the individual.

Topics Are Already Assigned For Next Week’s Report

September 25th, 2010 by admin

Anne has been attending Law School for two years now and she said it is getting harder and harder with each semester. She is taking about 7 subjects this semester and she said it is tough and requires a lot of hard work. She also quit her full time day job just so she could focus on her studies. It is very difficult and embarrassing if the professor asks you a question and you cannot answer. That only means you were not able to catch up on your reading which is a major no-no when you are in law school. The professors expect you to be ready every day, ready to answer whatever question is hurled your way. In one of her subjects Anne was asked to come up with a report about “Consumer Rights In The” and she is to select whether it would be about the rights in buying new and old cars. Anne is given at least a week to come with it and during the next meeting she would be asked to present it to class. Lily who is also in Anne’s class is given the topic “consumer action handbook 2010”. Lily will be reporting first on next week’s meeting and she is getting nervous as the schedule draws near. Anne has been doing several research about her topic and she has accumulated quite a lot of information to help her get started. She still has a couple more days left and if she put her mind to it and focus then she would definitely be able to come up a wonderful and well thought of PowerPoint presentation to the class and hopefully this would help her pass the course.
