Do you love to play video games-not just a passing kind of love, but a full fledged devotion to the sport of gaming? If you do and you are in search of a new career or even setting your eyes on the future with college and beyond, video game designer careers can be very rewarding, enjoyable and quite lucrative, as well.
There are several different positions that exist in the category of game designer. All of these positions are exciting and rewarding. In order to become a designer or work within the gaming industry, you must have a college degree. While some companies may accept experience in place of education, typically you will be required to have at least an Associates degree.
There are many schools that now have full time programs that lead to Bachelors degrees in this focus. The courses that you will take in order to get a job in this field and procure the right game designer education will include art courses as well as computer programming and graphic design.
You may not start out as a programmer-you may have to work your way up to the top when you go to work for a software company. At first you may have a job as a design assistant and work on characters and animation. In this position you will bring the characters of the game to life, making sure every detail is complete of the animation phase.
You could also branch out into the field of sound or audio engineering. In this area, you will work on the special sound effects that are part of the game as well as blending and mixing in the soundtracks with the game.
You may be lucky and slide right into a job as an actual designer, if you have experience. You can work on either computer graphic illustration or artificial intelligence programming. Never to be forgotten, when it comes to video game design careers, the most interesting job just may be as a video game testing engineer. See all of the newest games before they become classics and help improve the games of tomorrow!
