How to learn languages effectively

August 8th, 2010 by admin

Looking for an effective way to learn new languages? Language learning is not easy, especially for those who are learning their first foreign language.

There are a lot of books, CDs, and online training guides that present a comprehensive method to quickly and efficiently learn new languages: pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar.

To learn a new language, it is preferable to work every day in a continuous and consistent manner rather than working long hours without interruption, but only once or twice a month.

Start by estimating how much time you’ll spend each day learning the language. Learning new words daily will help you progress much faster. If you do not revise continuously, you will forget what you have learned previously and you will feel frustrated. If you work every day for a fixed term, your progress will continue and you will have a solid foundation. You can spend an hour or two hours per day or less depending on your motivation.

Now you’ll set goals and plan your week of learning. You can set an initial target of 150 new vocabulary words per month for 5 new words a day. You can commit yourself to reading a new book each month and listen to radio every day.

Here’s a sample schedule you can follow if you can commit to2 hours of learning per day:

30 minutes: Review vocabulary you learned before30 minutes: Read interesting articles 20 minutes: Listen to radio if possible with a transcript20 minutes: Learn new vocabulary words20 minutes: Write a note in your diary or blog in a foreign language2 times a week: Engage in language exchange with a tutor for two hour

Good luck in your quest to learn a new language!
