Modern Computer Technology: Emails and PowerPoint Presentations

June 24th, 2010 by admin

In the modern world today, we are used to the new technology such as computers. Computers evolved through time and are still evolving. It makes our life easier year per year. From sending letters to each other through snail mail or telegram to emails or even text messages. From writing on manila papers using permanent markers to making a presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint. The new generation is very lucky to have these new technologies while our grandparents and parents didn’t have them while they were studying.

Before sending emails, we need to collect emails and with their emails, we could even get to add them in social sites like Facebook and MySpace. Though sometimes, when we click the email of our friends from either a link or from an IM message, we would be automatically directed to a pop-up of Microsoft Outlook Express. This is said to be an instant email application from Microsoft Office and it would send the email immediately to the receiver. Though, I always have a hard time figuring out how to work this application. I always get Outlook Express problems such as “Message could not be opened from Outbox folder” or sometimes it gives me an error of “Some errors occurred while processing the requested tasks” which results in not sending the email. Because of these, I decided to stick with going online and sending the email through Yahoo, Hotmail or Gmail. Though sometimes I get disconnected almost every minute and interfere with the sending of email, I still try to wait for the connection to stabilize before I try sending the email again.

Another thing that made it easier for us is the PowerPoint presentations. We don’t need Cartolina or Manila paper to write on for reports or presentations. We just need a computer with a Microsoft PowerPoint installed, then, we’re half-way from the easiest way of doing a report. For new users, only a few take into consideration on reading PowerPoint instructions since they usually let other people teach them since it is easier to learn when someone orally teaches you and hands-on method of teaching. After finishing the report in PowerPoint, you are ready to present it on a big screen.

These are only a few from new technologies being used in the modern era. Today’s technology is still a start of discovering new things to invent in the future.
