The Value of Finding Public Records for Both Personal and Business Protection

March 19th, 2010 by admin

Today, perhaps more than ever before, having the easy access to finding public records and checking on those with whom you have some close contact has become a significant activity. Part of the sad lesson of 911 was that people are not always what they seem to be by outward appearances. For safety’s sake, it is crucial to know as much about the people with whom you are closely involved as is possible. Naivety will not lessen the heart ache of betrayal that happens when you are abused or misused by someone that you thought you could trust with your family, possessions, business, or your own heart.

In the last decade circumstances have created a situation in which finding public records and tracking down the specific information you need is easier than ever. The creation of Homeland Security has necessitated that government organizations work together to share their databases for quicker response and security. This means that you can also easily access personal records that were once extremely difficult to locate. Learning someone’s criminal background is almost as simple as checking into bankruptcy records and real estate transfers.

The other factor that has made finding public records much simpler is the increased speed of modern technology. Never before has so much information been stored within a few keystrokes of any home or business computer. As government, business, and the private sector store more and more of their information online, it is increasingly easy to access that information for your own personal needs. It might be a good idea to actually do a background search on yourself just to see how much data readily available about any individual.

While there are several reasons you might want to spend time finding public records on someone you know or have contact with, the most obvious purpose would be to ensure your personal safety or that of those within your care. Day cares and schools need to be so careful about whom they choose to hire, knowing that innocent young children are depending upon them for their continued protection and well being. Churches also need to be vigilant about who is given access, especially to their youth and children’s programs. What about the person you plan to marry or to begin a busines venture with? The greater the level of physical, emotional, or financial commitment, the more important it is to know exactly with whom you are dealing. It would be a wonderful world if everyone were exactly as he or she appears on the outside, but since that is not our reality today, it is up to you to do all that you can to keep yourself, your loved ones, and your money safe from those who would deceive and mislead you.
