Here Is A Brief And Concise Animator Job Description

February 21st, 2010 by admin

The simplest interpretation of an animator job description is that the animator is a person that has to produce numerous images, which are also known as frames. These frames will then have to be sequenced with each other with one flowing into the other at a very rapid rate and in the process helps to create the illusion of objects or people moving and this in turn is what is known as animation.

Another aspect to an animator job description is that animators generally work in two dimensional spaces but can also do three dimensional modeling and they must also be able to do animation based on computer graphics.

The latter type is often used in movies wherein these kinds of animated sequences help to create certain special effects and they can also be used as standalone animated pictures. Animation is also widely being used in television programs as well as on the Internet and even in computer gaming.  Those are two reasons why careers and salaries in animation are fairly high and abundant.

An animator must possess certain basic skills and in particular the animator must be rather artistic, though being technically sound is another important aspect of their job. The creation of animated frames means going through several different processes, starting with creation of an idea and then building the animation model and then also handling the lighting aspects.

If the animator is to use a computer to make the frames, then he will need to use special software that is called CGI or computer generated imagery. The main tasks that an animator will have to perform including having to liaison with the customer, create a storyboard, draw in two dimensions, design models and use different materials; and, much, much more.

A majority of his work must also deal with having to pitch ideas to clients and furthermore, he must also be proactive in conceptualizing and selling ideas to customers.
